This past Thursday, in a classic Thanksgiving day matchup, the Concord-Carlisle Patriots faced off against the Bedford Buccaneers, and the Patriots emerged victorious with a final score of 63-31.
To start the game, Bedford scored in the first five minutes of the game to make it 7-0, but CC never looked back, outscoring Bedford 42-7 in the rest of the first half. The CC defense came up huge, making stop after stop, as well as causing a few turnovers to slow down the Bedford offense and holding them to only one more touchdown during the rest of the first half.
In the second half, Bedford was able to produce a little more on offense scoring 27 for a point total of 31 points on the game. However, the Patriots took their foot off the gas a little bit, playing their backups for large portions of the second half. But they never relinquished a double digit lead and won the game with a final score of 63-31. More than doubling the Buccaneers score, this is the Patriots’ second consecutive win in the Thanksgiving game, and their largest margin of victory for the whole year.
Stars of the game:
These 3 players accounted for all of the patriots points:
Prodigy sophomore and DCL All-Star linebacker/running back Cole Pascucci scored three touchdowns, one off a pick six early in the game and the other two off short to medium runs up the middle in both halves to extend the lead and put the game to bed early.
Senior running back Robert Doherty, another DCL All-Star, added two touchdowns on the ground and an interception late in the fourth quarter to ice the game. Capping off his best season with over 1,000 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns on the year.
The biggest producer of the day was Senior running back and fellow DCL all-star Jaylin Farquharson. He added 259 yards on the ground as well as four touchdowns to cap off his last game as a patriot. Farquharson will be attending Lawrence Academy next year to play football and hopefully get recruited to play college football.
