Now that Concord Carlisle Swim and Dive has been in action for more than a month, a lot has happened. During swim season, also notoriously known as “sweason”, five meets have already occurred. The first meet was the annual Relay Carnival where all the teams in the Dual County League participate, and swimmers swim relays and events that are typically not found in usual swim meets. The relay carnival is always a blast, even though it’s very crowded. The next meet was against Lincoln Sudbury, where the girls’ team beat Lincoln Sudbury for the second consecutive year in the past decade, and the boys’ team came close to a victory losing only by a few points. In the official first meet of the season, there were around 30 qualifications for the Sectionals and States championship meets at the beginning of February 2018.

In the second meet of the season against Waltham Swim and Dive, Concord Carlisle left Beede with two wins; both boys and girls easily swept wins in first, second, and third place in multiple events. There was also a decent fan section up in the balcony section of the Beede Center since the meet was a home meet. The most recent swim meets were on Monday, December 18th against Newton South, Wednesday, December 20th against Bedford and January 2nd against Mystic Valley. CCHS did very well in all three meets, and there were many more qualifications for States and Sectionals, along with wins from both the boys and girls teams.

The swim season is about halfway done, and there are only four more meets until DCL’s at the end of January at the Atkinson Pool, the home pool for Lincoln Sudbury. Overall, Concord Carlisle Swim and Dive has had an amazing season so far and hopes to keep up the great swimming in all four grades. With both the returning “veteran” swimmers and all the new freshmen, many of whom entered the CCSD team from previous club swim teams and are phenomenal swimmers, the CCHS swim team hopes to have a successful season. As Head Coach Matthew Goldberg said, “this year we have a very special group of swimmers”, and the Concord Carlisle Swim and Dive team hopes to dominate at both the Sectionals and States meets!!
